Lost baggage

Estonian Air pays compensation for delayed baggage to passengers who do not have their permanent address at point of arrival. This is considered as help to passengers in order to obtain toiletries, every day articles etc. Temporary compensation is paid for passengers in case when passenger has not received his/her baggage after 24 hours after arrival. To file a baggage claim we need to receive the original check and receipts and the airline will compensate purchases that we find justified. In case the baggage was covered under your private insurance, you are kindly requested to contact the insurance company with your claim for compensation.

In case your baggage is lost more than 21 days, passenger can contact the airline for final settlement of the baggage claim. In the carriage of baggage, the liability of the carrier in the case of destruction, loss, damage or delay is limited to 1131 Special Drawing Rights for each passenger unless the passenger has made, at the time when the checked baggage was handed over to the carrier, a special declaration of interest in delivery at destination and has paid a supplementary sum if the case so requires. In that case the carrier will be liable to pay a sum not exceeding the declared sum, unless it proves that the sum is greater than the passenger's actual interest in delivery at destination. 

Concerning international law and compensation, please be informed, that all proven and justified (Montreal Convention - conclusion by the European Community of the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air) costs are subject for compensation. Original receipts and checks of essential costs should be delivered to the address:
